How many times have you heard people speaking of getting their power back?

Or speaking of giving too much of their power away?

Have you ever paused and wondered, what exactly is this power that they are referring to?

Well, the topic of power and personal power has been on my mind a lot this year, for several reasons. One of the main reasons I have been obsessing with power this is that I felt firsthand how vulnerable can be when they have given too much of their power away. I had given too much power to a few people I worked closely with under the guise of trust and openness - it didn't end well and left me quite vulnerable and a little bitter. I did recover from it and took full responsibility for allowing that to happen - another hard lesson learnt

In my relationship with Wonga, I have noticed our interesting but subtle power dynamics - I would literally see myself wielding my own power against him at times like a puppet master I would make him take certain decisions - I would also notice a different dynamic in the relationship when he takes his power back and stands firm on it, which alters my own actions. It can be so intriguing to experience when partners are of equal power - and disastrous when they are unequal

I have noticed power dynamic in my private client's relationships and other issues they present to me.

What I have come to learn is that the power dynamics are always at play if you pay careful attention to your life, you will see them clearly. There is a power dynamic between you and your colleagues, you and your boss, you and your teams. And there is certainly a power play between you and your spouse and children. Once you see the power play in any scenario, you can't unsee it and you will know when you lose your power, when you give it away and when you abuse it and when you are disempowered.

The major shift in your life happens when you discover and understand your own unique true personal power. A power that has nothing to do with anyone, a power that no one can take away, a power that is meant to serve you and empower others. Once you step on to that power play, your life will take a powerful turn (pardon the pun :))
